Imus Ta Said Somethin Wrong
Imus Ta Said Something Wrong

DID HE SAY, "nappy headed ho's???"

Well, I am from the south.
And I watch my dirty mouth.

Could it be that prejudice is still an issue?
If so, PLEASE let me hand you a tissue.

Shouldn't we all watch what we do and say?
Shouldn't we respect each other in every way?

After all, doesn't the Good Book up on that dusty shelf,
Tell us to treat others as we want to be treated ourself?

Irrespective of race, gender, age or that other thing,
"R E S P E C T" is what makes America's FREEDOM Ring.

So, take a good look and treat each other with kindness.
Otherwise, may we ALL be struck down with blindness.

Author's Notes:

Yes, we all agree...  Don Imus messed up ROYALLY...  But how long has this sort of thing been going on???  And do I know the answer???  HECK NO!!!  Racism, sexism and discrimination are VERY much alive and well in America...

The problem goes much deeper than just ONE successful radio talk show host...  The trouble I see is this:  He is a SUCCESSFUL radio talk show host...  How can this be if he was so offensive???  He must have a following or else the networks could not make money and MONEY is what this is ALL about...

I don't let my son's call girls "ho's," but the term is everywhere. Vulgarity is in FULL bloom.  I am sad to say that there seems to be no end for this vulgarity...

Am I an Imus critic???  NO!!!  Nor do I support what he said because it was offensive...  Think about this though???  Could this threaten freedom of speech in this country???  Like anyone else, if I am offended by something I see on TV or hear on the radio, (there's the knob) I can turn the channel or switch it off...

My thoughts go back to the American Revolution when the Colonists revolted against British rule...  The revolution was against the law and was an act of treason...  I am glad they revolted because that was the beginning of a great nation...  So, instead, I would MUCH rather talk about what's wrong with what Imus said, instead of punishing him for saying it.

Ham,

My opinion is that when our forefathers were fighting for free speech, they didn't mean that we all should have the right to insult one another.  Practice random acts of KINDNESS is my motto.  Please be kind to one another...FREELY!

Love,

Janet

Another great one, I was looking for something that would make me laugh- and stumbled upon this because of the title.  I like it though, you bring up some very valid points.  Nicely penned also.

Have a fabulous day Ham!

Love, Rin

Well, my personal opinion is that soooooo many have said things that have offended many---on radio stations, late night tv shows, and such....and nothing got said....heck, there has been worse said and nothing done..he just happened to say it to the wrong people..wrong place....wrong time.....now they will try to sue or whatever it is they seek to do to him......persoanlly I found it humorous.....and I support him.......some people are just waiting for anything little thing, just to jump out and try to sue and get money.....and he happens to be the one now....well like Glata said....we do have freedom of speech, and common sense to go along with it....I've heard worse on late night tv......just some ......some people cry "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" yet when the speech is directed at them, they cry "Where's the Money.".....looking for a way out of work, looking for that easy street.......I don't see that he said or done anything wrong, no more wrong than hundreds have done on radio and tv...so for you people that may have got their little feelings hurt..........suck it up and get the hell over it!!

Sometimes it's not what we say...it's when and where we say it. Jay Leno could have said the same thing and probably gotten away with it....It's sad to say the things that was said, but as you clearly stated...we DO have freedom of speech...However, we were also given a little common sense to go along with it, I'd think...

Great job, from a fella Southerner....

Glata, lovin' good ole North Carolina

Yeah, I agree, He shouldnt have said what he did, but he has a right to say it. Why instead of attacking the symptoms, we should be instead attacking the cause.
