Friday The Thirteenth

Friday The Thirteenth

Thirteen is indeed a very odd number.
People fear it even when they slumber.
Exactly why, I didnít really know.
I did some research and what I found, I now bestow.

Before the 19th century, the number 13 was considered unlucky.
In America now a day, Friday the thirteenth is just plain yucky.
There are people who plain refuse to go to work.
And people on the highway sometime act like a jerk.

And to visit a restaurant, would NEVER cross some peopleís mind.
Or to even consider planning a wedding that day, would be unkind.
Some say the origin of this most unlucky day,
Was due to Good Friday, when Christ, Judas did betray.

Most buildings havenít a 13th floor

And some cities donít have a 13th Street or Avenue.

If there were, Iím quite sure,

Someone would suddenly change their venue.

And letís not forget about Jason Voorhees, of ďFriday The 13thĒ fame.

Thereís just something horrifying about this terrible name.

Who can adequately explain why so many people, this certain date fear?

In fact, I am getting kinda scared myself, so Iím out-a here!!!

Author's Notes:
Since tomorrow is Friday the 13th and our Topic Of The Week is Myths,
I figured I'd dispell or add to the "Unlucky Friday The Thirteenth" myth...

You did a great job, but how do you explain a "Baker's dozen" having 13?  Is it to ward off evil?  Very good write!
