Dust to dawn
I am not important in the great scheme of things
those conversant with power
will not seek me out for my opinion
on their positions and policy
I am not an arbiter of what is right and just
but for myself
and though all my heroes are ghosts
I shall not surrender their past
nor relinquish their glory
to the ghouls that walk the earth today
the dust of Armageddon swirls in their wake
as the dunes of ignorance, their paradise
envelops the tired and confused
until all is one
The whore of Babylon hereafter
will sleep with one eye open
for the pinpoint ray of dawn
will always have its way

And when the light cometh - LOOK OUT!  There is a reckoning to be had.  I hear you on this one.  A deep and moving piece and an ominous commentary on the times of today.  I love poetry that has a voice, and you sir, have a voice.  Excellent. ~Pamela
