A frightful night
Trying to get out of bed.My body broken unable to move.Pain so piercing throughout each cell. This kind of pain is worse than hell.Straightening my body trying to walk. The bathroom only a few steps away.I need to get there before there's pee on the floor. Finally made it to the bathroom door.Such an effort to sit on the seat. Can't seem to drizzle, can't sit.If something as natural as peeing brings pain,Then no-one can tell me not to complain.I'm done now what a relief.Trying to stand up shoots pain to my feet.Such a difficult task succesfully conquered. My body feeling bruised and battered. As I wake from a dream like state,I think I'm in bed so warm and snug. What's this coldness beneath me?What happened I only had to pee?Touching I feel the bathroom floor. The tiles so cold is what I feel.I'm lodged between the toilet and wall. How did my body take such a fall? This can't be happening, I can't get up.I'm stuck, can't move, I'm flat on my back.Confused, I realized I'd passed out.Laying here helpless I start to shout. My mind is racing as fear sets in.Will I have to lay here till morning. No one hears my screams of pain.No one will help me get up again.I have to get up I can't stay here.My back feels like it's breaking.I manage to grab a hold of the door jam,Pulling as hard as I can.I'm out not stuck anymore. Now hubby is here to help me up off the floor. Can't believe I'm not dead,I survived this frightBut my body's still battered and bruisedfor the rest of the night.
Author's Notes:
I have chronic back pain from a car accident 22 years ago and somehow I injured it or something. I don't know what happened but I can hardly walk sit or stand. I feel totally handicapped at this point with the added excruciating pain. This poem is about my bathroom experience last night. I passed out and don't know what happened. This has never happened to me before.

It's a good thing someone was there Helen, back injuries are the worst! I too, suffer with back pain and it's no picnic as far as I'm concerned! Here's to hoping you feel better soon Helen.   Henry

Good lord, Helen!!! I so sorry that you have to suffer through this type of thing!!! My heart goes out to you, and I wish there was something I could do...that anyone could do! I hope that  you can find some relief from your bruises...and that the pain will fade away at least enough for you to be able to walkk without feeling like you're falling apart.

I send gentle hugs your way!

Glata

I could feel your pain in this but the uncertainity you projected is what does it for me in your poem.

I have myself suffered from crippling back pain due to a injury when I was young. Some mornings i cannot get out of bad and its as though my body is 80 years old. The pain is so bad worse than labour. I feel for you Helen, I do not know the circumstances of your injury or if this is an every day thing or if it comes and goes? My specialist gives me cortosoid injections when mine gets bad and diazepam and very strong pain killers when it gives out and i am not able to leave the bed. A teens machine helps the pain a great deal have you tried one of these? Massage is another way of relaxing the muscles in the back and helps the circulation, depending on the injury. I wish you better Helen and hope the specialist sorts out some form of treatment that will help you.

Much love

I suffered similar injuries my self when I was in a car accident, but in my case I was at a worse disadvantage because I wasn't in a car I was hit by one.  Hope you're feeling better.

I imagine you passed out because your body was protecting itself from the pain, I was incapacitated four years ago and last year they gave me Radio Frequency Leasioning so apart from not lifting heavy weights my back pain is almost non existant now also its only a day surgery procedure, a good poem on a nasty subject, hurry and get well soon.
