I'm Sure There Is A Name For It

I wonder if they wonder about me
I wonder if they ever even think of me

I can't get to the places that I've been
I can't follow the directions that I give

I never used to have to go through this
I never used to really even care about it

Now I'm thinking I'm thinking
way too much
'Cause I'm feeling I'm feeling
out of touch

You'll never find me where you're looking
always missed me the way you're searching
can't take away the nothing that you give
to leave yourself with everything
except all you're willing to lend

I'm lost in my thoughts once again
without you in the places that I am
You speak of all the things
I never quite understand
'cause I'm stuck in the my mind once again

Don't ask me a question, I won't know
Don't tell me to come, I won't go
I'm off fixing the world in my head
can't hear any of the sweet words you said

I wonder if you notice where I've been
I wonder if you're thinking, I'm here again

I can't lead you to the places that I see
I can't give you directions to follow me

I never used to have to care about it
I never used to really even go through this

Now I'm feeling I'm feeling
way too much
'Cause the answer to the questions
out of touch

I've always been right where you're looking
never missed me the way you're searching
to give you the something that you need
even if I don't pay attention
doesn't mean I never listen
to the directions that you always lend to me

If you wonder what I wonder
you will soon discover
I'm lost in the thoughts in my head.

Author's Notes:
Sometimes I get stuck in my mind and the world just gets away from me.  Daydreaming or something.  I could even be in a conversation with someone and never quite be there.  It's strange really.  I think it's a disease or something.  Probably it's just that I'm out of touch...but that's okay because by the looks of things around us I'm better off not touching any of it anyway.  That's what this one is supposed to be about.  Those moments lost inside my mind... And thank you to my son for providing the background sound at the end of the audio.

I tuned into the feelings here........resignation, frustration at not being understood..........oh yes and the unexpected part at the end where your son intervened just highlighted the whole feeling of being in two worlds at once.

As Len said, we all need a place to retreat to.............with me? I go into what has become known as "The Unbreakable Stare" when the world around blots out and my mind is elsewhere...It has happened sense childhood and I have no doubt at all that if I happened to be wired up to a machine measuring brainwaves at the time they would demonstrate sudden decent into theta or something.....fascinating exposure of the side of you that you wrestle with

I really like that verse, Chuck. To me, it sums up the whole write. I think every writer has a private place in their heads where no-one is welcome. We seem to need that seperation...len

I couldn't hear the audio to this, ( old puter, lol) but the words were simply divine. I understand about not being there in a conversation at times..usually I'm not daydreaming, but so busy thinking what the next thing I have to do is, that I am totally disconnected about anything surrounding me. Being lost to the world outside does have it's advantages..the further away you are, the less it can mess with you..and as far as a name? Hmm..still thinking on this one. I do however, think this was crafted well, and turned out nicely..perhaps this is the result of staying inside your own head, and if so, well, the end product is incredible.
