The Garden
Tucked strategically
amongst cement and steel,
a small patch of nature
lies exposed.

Wildly growing weeds,
weave their way
through cracked flagstones.
Its once vibrant existence
hidden by looming shadows
and gray, mottled blooms.

Once organized rows
of life uninhibited,
now overturned soil
littered with mans discards.
Its borders,
painstakingly cultivated
so long ago,
have become distorted
and indefinable.

Morning sun filters through
man made mountains.
Seeking blindly
for rainbow colors
of a time gone by.

Gentle breezes,
caress drooping stems,
and whisper quietly
of inevitable death.
Glistening drops of dew,
sad tears of the forgotten.

Every treasured seed,
filled with remembrances,
long for a loving touch.
Slowly they begin to wither
with understanding
of the gardeners demise.
