The Confined Mind
The brook winds its way
Through the valley,
Content to just
Dilly and Dally.
It bubbles and babbles,
Dibbles the ground,
And it dabbles around.
Smooth and sleek,
It's happy and meek,
Until it meets the creek.
The flowing gains volume and speed
But the creek has no need
To move too fast,
Or think of the past;
It will quiver and shiver,
Until at last,
It runs into the river.
The river thunders
And roars.
It sunders the ground,
And pours on down
Rocks and cliffs.
Too busy to wonder
About how's, why's and if's,
It rushes for miles,
And gushes and smiles.
It continues this motion,
While it wiles and guiles
Its way to the ocean.
Majestic and grand,
This beast beats the sand,
And swallows the land.
A victim of romance,
Caught in a trance.
This blue expanse
Has waves that dance,
Like a silken robe,
Encircling the globe.
But the brook so meek,
The brown swimming creek,
The brimming river's peak,
And the mystique of such worth,
The ocean of mirth,
Are all still bound to this earth.
