Line in a Rhyme~8

Line in a Rhyme

Sometimes the life Iíve lived is in my words

A few connect while others think Iím absurd

There are moments civilization can make me ill

So itís very hard to sugarcoat the way that I feel

Watching the poor falling further behind

Iím appalled by the leaders who rob us blind

As so many families now struggle to survive

Doing whatever they can just to remain alive

Now ainít it funny how after all of these years

Racial ignorance still very clearly appears

How can we claim that mankindís civilized

If peace and hatred still are yet circumcised

I donít know what to say to make it go away

So I write something new nearly every day

Praying Iíll create the right line in a rhyme

That people understand before the seventh sign

Author's Notes:
This piece is from the pages of my 8th book I am working on-
With everything going on in Iraq we continue to ignore what's
going on right outside our front door-
And as it continues to grow worse it makes me question if we
will open our eyes to reality before or after it is too late-

I heard someone comment recently that "we don't take care of our own because it's not as politically popular as taking care of the rest of the world. I wrote a song called Homeland along the same lines. Couldn't agree with you more James. jp

Thoughtful poem, James..Considering that we've only been out of the tree tops for a cosmic heart beat, it amazes me that we have the capacity for love and understanding that we have. Under all the intellect, we are still driven by animal instinct...len
