Silenced in the corner, entangled in lies,
until a little voice said,
"Hush my darling, don't you cry."
"I'm here to help, don't be alarmed. I'll bring you comfort, just give me your arms."
"I'll keep you safe, have no fear. Please stop crying, wipe those tears."
"Don't you worry, it'll be okay. I promise I'll make the pain go away."
"Trust me, little one, I won't cause you harm."
Then slowly, so slowly, I stretch out my arm.
I feel a dull throbbing and wince at the start,
bite down on my lips as my skin tears apart.
The pain goes deeper and I close my eyes shut.
Then I scream, "Stop! I've had enough."
I look down at my arms, a blanket of red.
Beautiful ribbons, but am I to be dead?
"No, you're not dead. But how do you feel?"
and that's when I realize, for once I feel...real.
"Now I'm feeling much better, thank you, my friend.
You've helped me a lot, please come again."
