gentle words
lavishly you spread
in this darkened forest
like morsels of sweet biscuits

I carefully picked them up
one by one.

sunk down deep into pocket
know; kept they are

in perfect clutch of palm
held with tenderness

for nourishment
to my soul so blue.

now, when cold
and cloud threaten
I shall have them

to savor
in my rain
and be warmly
then find
my way

If I feel the need to warm my soul with words then I always know just where to come and will never leave disappointed, excellent work as always~Graham.

This is a very interesting and vivid write.  I was able to see these words as a sort movie in my head. I like how you transform the idea of words into sweet biscuits.  Very good.  Thank you.

What a blessing to have one whose words nourish the soul. And what a show of wisdom to gather and treasure those words as protection against life's outrages. This is warm and wonderful, Cindy. ML

I don't know why, but I get a very warm feeling about this, I suppose it's because there appears to be a happy ending to this that just stirs up the romantic in me. Very well written Cindy, it takes you through love's emotions.   Hugs,   Henry

A word of connection can complete the loneliest of hearts and nourish the soul until the full feast of relationship can be experienced in a moment yet to come. Nice work. Tristan

Cindy, I am so glad you are re-posting some of your poems...this one especially, is such a treat to the reader.  love, love the forest theme and the idea of picking up little morsels for renewal of spirit.  Shared memories, placed in your pocket to lead two compatible souls back to each other...wonderful dedication!

and wonderful words to live by ...quite the opposite of burning bridges... I love your style!

Saga is fortunate to have a friend like you.  I like what this poem invokes for my thoughts.  It's true.  It is the morsels in life we should be after.  They are with us long after the large things fall into themselves and disappear.

Beautiful dedication Cindy, words have more effect on people than we care to admit. In this case, they are words you cherish to help get you through some difficult times. You wrote it perfectly Cindy.     Henry
