Lizzie Steps Out

Hysteria abounds in darkness tonight

Ms. Borden is haunting, a horrible sight

Tired of her tomb, she steps out of the dirt

Her historic past, only hearsay that hurt

Humdrum, she shakes the soil from her axe

Harsh were the rumors of those forty whacks

She had counted each one, pffftt- forty they say

She remembered fifty on that bloody day

Through bleak hollow sockets she surveys the town

The mean spirited judge was easily found

No warning was given, no howling, no shriek

She crept to his bedside, stood over the heap

I was an innocent wretch, sent to the worms.

Vengeance is mine! she watched as he squirmed

Without any guilt, in habitual fashion

She ravished the form, gutturally laughing

Revenge echoed throughout the tombstones that night

A loud rattling of bones; demonic delight

Her axe wet with blood, forty one it had took

Lizzie entered her coffin and fastened the hook

this was a lot of fun - and having visited Fall River, Mass (Lizzie's town), I always feel somewhat closer to our gal.  Add "hysterical" to your list!
