Painful memories subdue his mind

Gripping it in thoughts, he cannot control

Burned into the depths of his soul

Hidden behind walls of his crying heart

Mistrust and pain he had buried there

Deep within these vaults, this is where they had lain

Now they surface to torment again

Daggers of steel twisting within

Sadness like a mist slowly creeps in

Overpowering his very being

Strength drains from him

As he fights to contain these memories again

Ah, repressed thoughts and emotions...they are such dogged and powerful tormentors...

Beautifully writ Joe ~

Best wishes,

Hugs for you Joe. These memories always seem to haunt us dont they. You are not on your own my friend. Massive hugs for you. Just as you think you have laid the ghost to rest they invade your mind and dreams with their presence.

Beautiful touching write

Painful memories ride our thought until the pain is so bad we just  get so tired of fighting
we just bow our heads and cry and get all the angry and hurt out of our eyes and heart...
Been there done this several times... I feel your hell my friend...more than you know...This poem is a heartbreaker... Hugs from Texas ~She Whispers
