Blessings without disguise

Evening has settled in

Beacons glowing in the rain

The blankets full of tears

Just a distant reminder

You know the answers

Before I knew the question

And patience becomes you

Like an invisible halo

Talking with you is forgetting my fears

Laughing with you is coming home

My inadequacy transformed

Into something of value

For you said that you enjoyed

Being with me - and meant it

It took a while

until I realized

that happiness had seized me

The rain reflects your faces

You're beautiful, so unlike me

Among all my gifts, the most overwhelming ones

Are you

We do not always thank our friends.  This is a wonderful way to do it, Heike.  From the beautiful imagery of the first line, all the way through, you reveal a gracious soul.  Well done.  ML

Oh this is beautiful.  I love it.  What a wonderful dedication to those we need to truly in our lives.  I love the way you write so very honest and not straying away from true emotions.

Oh my! Just like me to reach later than everyone else. But my sentiments towards this piece remains the same. Heike, your poetry doesnt drip of an all-knowing tendency, like many abstract poets' work tends to be. Neither does it spell out the message to the reader. You guide us towards a magic-land and leave us there, for us to find our way out. And you know what? Sometimes, I dont want a way out.

Beautiful, beautiful, moving and sincere.
Friends are so important and a huge blessing in our lives.
We do not have friends like this unless we are a similar friend to them.

My inadequacy transformed

Into something of value

For you said that you enjoyed

Being with me - and meant it

So many of us grow up accepting the criticism of family , teachers etc
friends are the ones who love us for ourselves.

Great work Heike. I like the rhythms of this piece, and the way you handle the line breaks to play with the meaning and mood of the sentences, such as "The blankets full of tears/just a distant reminder". And there are some lovely lines too. I'm sure all your friends, those you have now and those you have still to meet, will enjoy this as much as I did. Well done.
