Never Coming Back~L

By James L Lagoski

Here is a little story about reality,
About a guy named Joey and his family,
Had a big house in a nice neighborhood,
Gave his kids everything that he could,
But soon all of this began to change,
Everybody said he was acting strange,
Gotta pay the price if ya play the game,
Riding on a horse with a thousand names.

With a monkey on his back,
Like a dragon when he bites,
The sun dont ever shine,
On the eagles final flight,
Got those needles in his arm,
While he's lightin'up the crack,
With that bottle in his hand,
Is he ever coming back.

Little by little Joey lost his soul,
Everybody watched him slowly lose control,
His wife and kids said it wasnít fair,
They finally left and he didnít care,
But he grew tired of his life and all the lies,
We saw it on his face and saw it in his eyes,
He finally gave it up-guess he found a way,
We put Joey in his grave just the other day.

<Final chorus>

Theres no more monkey on his back,
So the dragon doesnít bite,
The sun will never shine,
On the eagles final flight,
No more needles in his arm,
Wont be lightin' no more crack,
Empty bottle in his hand,
Dead and never comin' back.

--Repeat final chorus--

Author's Notes:
My Son has been going through some of the old lyrics sheets
I used to write back a few years ago and we stumbled
across this one-Sometimes it is amazing to see the date that
some of my old stuff had been created-
I really liked the message this one portrays-

I can see this as a song, nice work on the message. It's tough that we read this and can relate it to society these days.

Clear as a crystal, many people face these same demons every day! As always, you put things out there so clearly...I could feel his disillusionment with life, and thh lack of concern as the drug took away his ability to feel...
A great, sad write...
Hugs ... Your NC sis..Glata
