The Riddle Of The Creature

there is a creature

that steals

children’s shadows.

so the old ones whispered

in their rumpled papers..

how i Sheppard my shadow

protecting it like

a small insignificant beast.

it hooves would mimic me

in joy as i walked

fast on cobblestones

and the bells of churches rang

as my ankles drag

walked through the currents

of leaves swirling.

wonder why the nature

of the cosmos is hidden within trees...

walked and it seemed

i became the shadow

and the shadow became me.

but the creature stalking

with no name

on no home of boundry

only scales and spikes

of responsibility

rules that made corners hard as stones

found me in the  certain passage of the moon…

and soon i walk with no shadow

on three legs

my cane and i

and i did not remember

my companion who was closer

to me then blood

 in my veins

and in my unconscious vision

i cannot understand

why the sphinx cries

and road are more then happy

to lead nowhere

with long indescribable names….….
