Two P.M.
His hair falls just at two p.m.
leaning toward six,
and how can I tell him how
much the turn of his head

makes the line of his neck
so touchable? Words
roll from his tongue in that
staccato that is quiet somehow

bullets of wheat grass
pierce my heart gently
no harm, just a warming
my words stutter silently

trapped beneath tripping heartbeats

pattering behind my tongue
and I can only smile
as I brush two p.m toward four.
