Two Sons

Bursting forth on Sunday's lap
Hungry are his cries for mother's breast
And counted fingers are inventoried
As shouts of deliverance renders
Boyish charm at rapid pace
Thy precious newness in arms's clasp
Finding each step on uncharted path
Kept company with good book of verse
Ever closer you came to flight
And kissed the cheek of something dear

David  beauty of my youth
Birthed upon an open river
Flowing from our hearts
Quickened at the sound of peace
Softly landing on our shore
Placid and cool are your waters
Deliberate by plan; and unaware
You register healing
A sudden ripple
To a cove of deep despair

Author's Notes:

For Jonathan...first born and leader, strong you stand
For David....healer of our pain, a sweet balm of goodness
I love you both

I wish to acknowledge Sherry Emily and SEA_Siggys for the lovely artwork.

your Jonathan, like my firstborn shares a love for a "good book and verse"..for his first sleep-over he packed a volume of the encyclopedia in his bag just in case he got bored...funny, his name is Jonathan too.   I loved the line in David's poem, "birthed upon an open river"...and the lines that flowed with a feeling of peace.  Both dedications are simply beautiful...and moving!  ♥   Your David would be my Lucas.

Beautifully written for your two sons. I am sure that they both appreciate the sentiments expressed here. I know that I would have if my Mother had written something like this for me, but I might not have told her that I did. I enjoyed the read very much my friend.
