Say Goodbye~L

Say Goodbye
By James L Lagoski
©1999

Verse1
On a rainy stormy night
They had another meaningless fight
And when it raged into a war
He threatened to walk out the door.
Then he left to her surprise
Now she sits alone and cries
Her angers turned into concern
She prays to god that he’ll return.

BRIDGE
And across the skies—The lightning cracks,
Somehow she knows—He’s never coming back.

CHORUS
Remember when you disagree,
Things in the cards we can not see
Nobodys life is guaranteed
Or is it ever warranteed
Would you ever feel justified
If you ever got notified
Don’t know the day or how we’ll die
Don’t lose your chance to say goodbye

Verse2
While driving in the pouring rain,
He decides to go back and explain,
But as he turned the car around,
It flipped and rolled along the ground.
She felt her heart begin to stall
She knew before the late night call,
For as he drew—his dying breath
He thought of her—until his death.

BRIDGE
And across the skies—The lightning cracks,
Somehow she knows—He’s never coming back.

CHORUS
Remember when you disagree,
Things in the cards we can not see
Nobodys life is guaranteed
Or is it ever warranteed
Would ever feel justified
If you ever got notified
Don’t know the day or how we’ll die
Don’t lose your chance to say goodbye

REPEAT AND END

Author's Notes:
Last night I read a few sets of lyrics written by a young
writer here named Cherie-
Some of the things she wrote were absolutely perfect-
I told her it reminded me of when I would write both
lyrics and Poetry years ago when first starting to write-
(As you can see by the date I wrote this)
Unfortunately I could not keep up with both once my
books became a real vision so I stopped writing lyrics-
So I told her I'd dig out a couple and post them-
Some of you who have read my work for awhile may
remember this one from when I had posted here a few
years ago- It was always one of my favorites and seemed
to be one many people liked-
Thanks Cherie for reminding me of this!
Peace~
James
PS---As some of you know, my son has been creating music for over 6 years.
Jimmy decided to do his own version of this song which can be heard by clicking
the audio button above and downloading the song. I think you will be impressed!

This is full of truth just like you my warrior friend.
So good to see you in so many genres. Life has battered you into a fine person. poet, writer, friend.
What more can you ask? Ok some money...........its on its way.

This is the first Lyrics I remember ever reading of yours, James, and you've done wonderful with this! As always, you write about the realities of life, and used this as a powerful reminder that life is not always going to be great, and that things can happen...so we must always think things through.
Wonderful write, and I thank Cherie for reminding you!!
Hugs from your NC sis...
