Sweet Assassin
Behind sunglasses, my eyes dart from place to place.
Moving confidently yet avoiding undefendable space.

Around each turn, uncertainty and emptiness....
Remembered, as only slowly time heals the bloody mess.

Soft eyes and lovely smile your concealed weapon.
So evident as my mind replays your approach in slow motion.

A flash and I'm spun by the impact your bullet did impart.
Tangled, breathless, shot point blank through the heart.

Each month the pain recedes, recuperation more complete.
Your lessons I accept, sweet assassin, and resume my beat.

A dodge here and weave there I maintain my guard.
Pass on that bullet-proof jacket, my heart's already scarred.

Rich.....stunning and piercing this is and so very creative. You have again evoked the deeply repressed pain of a lost love. You are a powerful writer. Excellent. ~ Cindy

Another very impressive poem. It's basic theme is common but you presented it in a brand new and original light. I enjoyed this alot.

and you live to tell the tale...wounded...scarred... and I'm sure without too much regret... very nicely done... I have a song for you:

(Radiohead)
Limb by limb and tooth by tooth
Tearing up inside of me
Every day every hour
I wish that I was bullet proof

Wax me
Mould me
Heat the pins and stab them in
You have turned me into this
Just wish that it was bullet proof

So pay the money and take a shot
Leadfill the hole in me
I could burst a million bubbles
All surrogate and bullet proof

Yep Rich, guns and bombs aren't the most deadly weapons around... I think I'm taking the bullet-proof jacket, myself, there are some things that I don't think I would survive a second time..... Beautiful piece of work, HC. How is it you do what you do? Jude
