Score's Up
I say there is only one way to love
Thatís full bore, no limitations.
Accepting full responsibility for the risks
Anything less is for those who love convenient.
You say thatís why Iíve been so hurt
Why things have been so painful.
Sure, Iím†first†to agree the costs were high.
But, Iíd probably rather have the scars.
Say you donít love that way, give as much as you return.
You bet that shows,†it reveals how little you know.
ĎCause you could never repay what Iíve already spent.
Capital and love thrown down on the cause of us.
But hell, you see, I never learned to keep score.

Very powerful and passionate. It sounds like "It's better to have love and lost than to never love at all". Beautiful poem.

Your coonass roots are showing....all passion and damn the torpedos! I've never seen an 'equal' relationship have you? Someone always loves harder and more intensely than the other...I'd rather be the one to feel the burn than the cool light of reason.....excellent, Rich, beautifully stated....Jude
