The Reason

I remember expressing such wonder,
About how fate had brought us together.
She said everything happened for a reason.
So why she's gone is clear enough now,
Though her magic still haunts every season.

Fate arranges not for grins, so why?
Perhaps to show what the old life lacked.
Or to remind just how beautiful love is.
But then, unique she is my heart sighs.
Without her, "again" could never fly.

No, this fate is for her benefit somehow,
And that thought really makes me smile.
I want her to take my stake.
Take my share of happiness,
Have the man of her dreams.

Just for a moment she was mine,
And that will have to be enough.
So much joy and happiness,
More than I had a right to receive.
I guess fate has other plans for me.

Time and circumstances befall us all Richard...some call it "fate" and some see it as a product of the choices we make. Whatever one believes something is lost and gained in the process. Even when we lose, we gain and although it doesn't feel as good as the thing we have lost, there is still something valuable to be gleaned from the experience. I think it is key to look for the good that comes of all things and knowing you, I believe you already do this. Some choose to see only the pain and faults while a person with their eyes wide open will recognize every interaction as an opportunity to learn more...not just about the other person but about ourselves too and the way we are growing as an individual.

You have looked at this with more fairness than I agree with, for you most certainly deserve to have just as much joy as she. This is not even debatable, although I recognize your generous nature...that only shows the depths of how much you cared.

"Maybe to show what the old life lacked.

Or to remind just how beautiful love is?"...those are beautiful findings but I'm sure there are even more. I doubt we can find one specific reason. Perhaps it was chemistry, or being in the right place at the right time...when each needed what the other had to offer. We can think ourselves crazy Rich and never, ever know the answer why love fails after it has had a great start. I certainly don't know "The Reason" for why things go as they do but I try to harvest the best things from it, sifted through heartache's screen...for with time those treasures only gain in value and become a part of you...forever.

You have stirred my memories and emotions with this poem. You are so noble when you express yourself...your heart is a beautiful thing and you love deeply, that is very obvious.

Fine expressions here Rich...so sincere that it knocked on my heart...loudly. I know I've gone on and on here...but it just seemed the right time to say all of this. I hope you find something of worth in my ramblings.

Rich, it is so sweet that you found the strength, the heart and the purity of spirit to focus on the joy, given briefly, and not dwell in the dark bitterness of the parting. There aren't many that can do that, I'm not sure I could...Jude

I hope you find love again, sugar....or at least a wanton hottie to take your mind off of your problems.....

WE ALL HAVE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES AT DIFFERENT TIMES FOR A REASON..WE GIVE OUR LOVE AND WHEN ITS TIME TO LEAVE WE ALL KNOW ...LOVE FOR THE MOMENT BECAUSE IT CHANGES LIKE THE WEATHER IN YOUR HEART MAYBE THERE STEPPING STONES TO WHATS AHEAD FOR YOU MY FRIEND ALWAYS ~ SHE

Fate is so interesting...some say we don't choose our fate...hmmm do we though? People are always brought into our lives for many different reasons..."Fate arranges not for grins, so why?
Maybe to show what the old life lacked.
Or to remind just how beautiful love is.
But then, unique she is my heart sighs
Without her, "again" could never fly."I loved this stanza...I think sometimes we mess with fate just to remind us of who we are and where we come from....this is a sad poem...well maybe it is to me because I have a soft heart...
