When Sally was wild and still just a child
She would dream about her life
Wondering what kind of man shed meet
Who would ask her to be his wife

And as she grew there were quite a few
But she still had not found Mr. Right
Then at 19 she met a man named Dean
Told her friends it was love at first sight

They dated a while and he made her smile
So the day came he asked for her hand
Sally felt blessed and quickly said yes
And the day she dreamed of was planned

But after the wedding he started to change
His trust in her became an issue
He screamed and yelled nearly every day
As she cried silently into her tissue

With the birth of a boy Sally found joy
She was proud as mother could be
But like a curse her husband got worse
Because he liked causing her misery

So year after year she survived in fear
For Dean grew much meaner and colder
There came a day that her son would say
Ill protect you mom when I am older

When he was 15 and heard his mom scream
He quickly ran to his mothers aid
His Dads out the door like times before
So he said mom please dont be afraid

In the dark alone when his father got home
Sat this son with loaded shotgun
When his dad came in and lunged at him
He pulled the trigger and it was done

They took him to jail without any bail
While waiting for his day in court
But words got said and he ended up dead
By a man who killed him for sport

So deep down inside Sally had died
Not able to bare her despair
Her bodies now still after taking some pills
For her dream had become a nightmare
Author's Notes:
This poem is from the 4th book of The Journey and is of the terrible tragedy so many live with not only here in the United States but in places all over the world. Some situations are worse than others but any type of abuse is unnecessary and untolerable- As of today the 4th book I've written and published-
The Journey~Chapter 4 ~Reviewing the Lessons~
Is now available along with the first 3 chapters by using the link on my home page here at Creative-Poems. I hope that I am an inspiration to any of you who are interested in publishing your own work- All this writing for 10 years and saving all that I had written was nothing more than a dream 5 months ago- And Today I have 4 books printed and available for sale to the public- I was the writer, editor, typesetter and publisher- Makes me even prouder that I did it all myself and the quality of the books came out very nice. If you would like to try your hand at it just go to the link on my homepage and check it out for yourself- Thank you all for your words of wisdom and your constant support I have gained from here since I first made a home here a year and a half ago-
It really helped me get the little push in confidence needed to accomplish this!
Best Wishes to You All~ Peace~ James
