Carolling With One Note
In the Darkness
comes the notes spaced between
the unthinking snowflakes.
How my voice twines
with my friends.
How our hymns reach
beyond us
weaves into song nexus
spring beyond the darkness
of our small mouths
Luminous leaves flutter with gleaming
leaves of glory as our souls amplify
melodies echo off the distant windows
of Decembers twinkling house--

and are lost in the rings
of unknown planets as the season
turns toward its fulfillment
in the caress of frozen trees..

My friend think
that they should
sing at your window.
How often my
heart had shaped a note
and how it waits to fly to you
like a shivering bird of urgency--
as i try to empty all my
words of hidden notes
for they betray me
and remain in the shadow
of my inner lameness.
For if one pored forth
surely others would follow...

As we sing
as your greet us
with the measureless song of your eyes
i find it is better
to think of your cranberry stained lips
than to imagine a secret night of mistletoe
as my lips blue
with the tingle of a bitter
festive fruit Blush in insignificance
for you shall never find
the secret note
that i hid in the obscurity
of others harmony
winds promises the purity of coming
pinwheels of ice cubes howl
as my simple note swam up
the icesicles of your roof unobserved
and tasted warmth of your smile
and then return unnoticed
to the cold hearth of my life
without a hint of warmth.

"for you shall never find/ the secret note/that i hid in the obscurity/ of others harmony"
This is simply brilliant, Andrew. Don't you think she could be anxious to hear that very note?
