Mother Africa

Africa cries …

She has lost her pride,

She has lost her dignity,

She has lost her tranquillity.

Beautiful, she was.

Glorious, she was.

When time was born,

no more she is today.

 She cries...

Her sons and daughters

Have been bought,

Have been trod upon,

Have been misled,

Yes she cries…

For yesterday,

She was paradise.

Today, She is a graveyard.

She cries …

Her children have lost her ideal Ubuntu…

A word in all her tongues,

Whose meaning is deeper than dept.

She cries…

For once powerful,

Her might could only be crushed by God.

Today, Anarchy is in her mist,

Helpless, vulnerable, she has become.

Strangers are feeding her young ones.

She cries…

One day…

She will rise …

Rise…

Like an awaken giant from his sleep

And fly…

Like an eagle touching the heavens

That day She will roar a lion’s roar,

She will shed tears…

Tears of joy

And

She will cry no more.

Author's Notes:
ubuntu can be translated as humanity

This is awsome and I can't wait for the day when the whole of Africa stands together and roars like a lion.
That day Africa will make it's voice known to the rest of the world.

This was very passionate, and I felt its force. Keep it up.

Wow such pride and passion. I agree Africa is a sleeping giant and we in the west should be ashamed of our selves for the way we have treated the people of this great continent.
