Lonely Angel
A girl sits in a corner of a dark café,

Alone and one with her dark thoughts.

No one knows what goes on behind those dark, brown eyes of hers.

Inspiring mystery and suspense

Those who are unlucky to catch her eye

sink deeply into the abyss and shiver.

She talks to no one,

Shies away from human contact.

Not trusting, not wanting to be hurt.

When someone approaches fear enters her eyes,

And mumbles to avoid conversation.

It seems that love just passes her by,

No risk will she take, not wanting the pain that’s surely to come.

So she’ll dodge cupid’s mighty arrow, alone to stay.

She longs for loves touch……yet her heart so fragile.

It seems that she can not be loved, for she thinks she is not pretty.

She has friends yet even they are ever kept at a distance.

On night a man of shadowy substance appears before her,

Slowly he gains her trust…yet so fragile a trust.

They talk and confide in one another for years as friends.

The girl and the man so close yet so far apart,

It seems that Fate would decree them ever apart.

The man would believe that long distance should not matter,

Yet the girl believes that the relationship would be doomed to fail.

The shadow man touches translucent hands to her warm, soft fingers.

He tells her that she is beautiful both inside and out,

She denies his claim over and over.

No matter what she says, she stands beautiful in his eyes.

He longs for her touch and the real sound of her voice.

Telling her he plans on coming to her no matter how long it takes.

If by chance she finds someone else,

He would accept and wish her happiness.

He tells her his name.

The girl hesitates for a moment or two,

Then breathlessly whispers that her name is Angela.

The man disappears into the night once more whispering……..Wait for me……my Angel.
