Lore Of The Full-Windsor
My fingers try to remember
false memories
my thumbs like Chinese finger puzzles
red checkered periwinkle
try to wrangle a notion
of how to knot my silk tie...
as i search the paper riddles
of a book with all the
secret incantations of manhood.
Lunar cycles of ballroom dance steps
and the grammar of kisses
i find in the obscure corner of indexes
the magical diagrams
of a Full-Windsor knot.
i am curious so i study
its mystical meaning as ignorant hands tie
the ancient sages speak
in the concise script of knowledge

..that one propitiously
tie a Full-Windsor.
on the day you die
or the day love pours
from an unknown cup
in the house of raindrops...

i know all about the art of drinking
such droughts the soul takes
but i don't know if i can except
these binary opposites
as a possible outcomes.
The winds scratch
my windows in greeting.
my finger tie a Four in Hand Knot
it is without significance.
for i desire more
the comforting shape of loneliness
then the final shadow
as my grave and my heart creep
in the yearning
over the enthralled hairs
of the back of the neck...
