~My Henry~
I stood up looking around For that all too familiar face. I wanted you to be there To see my happy fate. I tried to call But you weren't there, I was all alone. I wanted to go and find you But I had to stay at home. I felt so sad and lonely, In my corner all alone, You weren't there to see me For you weren't even home. As the time crept closer I couldn't feel a thing, For I was all numb inside A feeling I haven't felt before A feeling that was so strange. But when it came and I felt good, Better than before, But I looked along the crowd Looking for your wonderful face, I soon realized you weren't there So I didn't feel all that safe. But I saw others who loved me Watching with eager face. I then realized you weren't there physically Like you've always been, But deep down inside of me Is where you've always been.
Author's Notes:
My Uncle Henry left for the war and I wrote this for him because he missed my graduation. I wanted him to see my speech that I had to make but he was in Iraq. He's home now because he got injured but he's doing well and I love him for serving our country.

I'm sorry he was injured, and that he wasn't there for your graduation, but I am glad he is home, and safe. I know how you feel, because my Uncles are like fathers to me. Beautiful poem. Very special.
