Grammar School
We write poems
like well crafted watches
Metronome couplets,
Enjambled gears,
Aristotelian clitter-clack.
The Teacher hears
the singing of doves & sparrows
From my heart.
She poisons them
The only sound now
Is the flopping of dying wings--
the noise disturbs the class

Sad and yet so beautiful--simple and creative.

Imagine all the wasted years when writing and emotion are squashed by the conventions forced upon students. Very insightful work.
