The Heart's Permutations
Why does your smile
seems to be a reflexion of the sky.
i seem to forget how to breath
and my legs imagine seismic earthquakes
somewhere in the clumsy world of my body....

Why does your beauty
seems to twist gravity
and space and time...
Your cosmological words
swim around me like
unknown equations of higher math
how they quiver like quarks
and disappear into the quantum foam
of my intellectual lack...

i do not understand the algebraic of my longing
or how your body seems to gleam
with swiftness of light years--
or the higher geometry of your eyes--
seems to bind me into hyper knots--
as my heart remains trapped
in the multidimensional confusion
topologies of my feelings
unable to find a solution...

The lump in my throat never allows me
to formulate a fluid understanding
as the fall leaves seem to orbit
my affable ignorance fluttering
in the laughing winds--
even when you take my hand
and say with the gliding
spiral patterns of your words:
”You don't know much
about science do you..”
My knotting tongue
seems to agree with your theory
the cosmos seems to produce a strange luster
between you and me
what strange warmth i must imagine
radiates from your smooth skin
as the furnace of creation continues
in the mysteries of its permutations--
as my perspective shrinks
into the limitless spaces between the stars
and the rings of your lips gleams
in its undescribable reality....

Somehow Andrew, you take something as stark and analytical as science and conjure magic within its stilted walls. Very enjoyable poem.
