Inward Ocean

How much like a ocean
Is my longing.
Sometimes so calm
That the sun
Will stick her luminous hair in it
Into indeterminate depths
That swim beyond knowledge
beyond fathoms of understanding…
.
Sometimes so stormed polished
that the trembling waves
Do not seem to want to remain within
And the thrash against the burning sands
of possiblities.

If you held my heart
Like a shell with your curious fingers.
When you listen
You would only hear my quietness
For my ocean is not complex
The moon teaches me patience
Of floatation For all i have
is my insignificant ocean
and the fluxes of gravity--
what strange joy
as i wonder will it gift to me
as a comb upon the mystery of the beach….

Most people are but drops of water, so an ocean, as less complex as it might be, is still an ocean. Very beautiful verse here, Andrew.
