Melting Ice
Why must my body
burn with such a fervent heat
quenched only by the solace of my being
i walk to the river but i must pass.
Into smooth days beyond
the misfiring pump
of my heart and its unquenchable riddle...

Oh mysterious dark waters
how you long to sweep
beyond my needs.
Scattering me like drift wood
in your dark embrace
My flesh seems to be a strange
creatures that stirs in me
with velvet paws and blissful maw
a obscure mask
and wants to burn enraptured in flames...

Why must i burn for that
which does not burn for me.
It is a mystery of combustion
and i am not a fireman
for i fear ladders
i shall contain...

For there to be a fire
the flames must agree
Into the blanknesses of snows
i walk past the river.
And then my solace warms me
as my simple face
burns with a dark red flush
and ice melts in my eyes...

You know Andrew, I always read your poems, even though sometimes I don't leave a trace of my walking into them. Sometimes, I just don't know what to say...like in this one...

Is this about unrequited love Andrew?

I'm not sure that I understand this properly. You'll have to help me with this one.

~Barbara~
