Your Mysterious Ways
Often in the darkness of my room
i do pray to you oh Jesus..
My tiny candle of my knowledge flickers
within the cage of my heart
behind the gorgons knot
of my ribs...

i hear your answer
in the midnight rain
as your angels tap dance
on the simple narrowness of my roof,
but my foolishness always clouds
the windows of my understanding
and my own Adam's apple
blushes in my secret creatureliness--
and in the blowing leaves
i find your wisdom
swirling unlooked for
on the portals and porches
of my expectations
combing away my paths.
Like tumble weeds and dust devils
haunt the prairies of my desires
as insight like unpainted
unrealized roofs whistle
in the coming winds..

You stamp the rambling letters of my life
with a stamp in which you
hold a lamb with white curls
of tranquility slumbering
quietly in of your gentle arms...

i never seem to discover
how to open in it with my
meek letter opener in my dim fingers.

i never know why
exactly my knees
never fully glean your wonder
and depths of your mystery
they seem to take acceptation
for they do not want to leave this world
so they conspire to remain
on the dark pools of the familiar floor.
while my spirit like a missighted sparrow
flies across the secret hills
and creeping woods of prayer
For you do mark
the slightest sparrow's flight and feather...

i shall be looking for you
waiting and even if you tarry
around each corner i shall stumble
for you see beyond them all
and are waiting--
my heart shall ever look for you--
shinning among the strangers of this world
and befriend them and marvel
among the beautiful mysteries you have woven...
my compassion shall remain
even longer than my simpleness
as i look past the floating labyrinths of snowflakes
freezing the December chambers of the world
that seem to worship
the lattices and honeycombs of your purity.

i know you are waiting for me
one day i shall awake
from mirages within my dreams
and the time is short as this winter season
approaches and blows upon
the weak foundations of my heart--
for you quiet my mouse-like cares and fears
with your mysterious ways
though your footprints
are not always visible in the trodden snow
of my confusion and mouse traps do not snap.

What a deep understanding you show... And you know, a great power you have, although you don't see it.
