Early Morning Rainstorm
i saw god in the raindrops fall to earth
like trout returning to the source of origin.
So i caught the life-giving beads in a mason jar
& placed it beneath my bed.
& tried to learn the secret of
how god sews himself into the world
to cover the holes that we wear
upon its jeweled cubed embroidery.

Then i within my being caressed
like a mandolin.
& in the inscape of my mind
i spangled
psalms singing, floating in the wind
of meditation.
So i gathered them in nylon net
& pinned them down between the pages
of my fathers folded tapestry
the king James Bible.

Prophets whisper to me
from ruffled mounds of fallen leaves
So i could sleep i press them gently
like lovers spooning in candle light,
into a Farmers Almanac i keep by the window.
& understood the love of Christ
by skipping gravel stones upon the pond
& watch the water unfold in end stopping line
the rings, echo beyond the borders of my tongue.
Through the nameless continents of my heart.
