Revenge Has No Reward~3A

Revenge Has No Reward

Standing in the aftermath
The shame of what youíve done
When you could have walked away
Instead you pulled your gun

Revenge has no reward
Itís like pissing in the wind
And once you pull the trigger
Some ones life is going to end

Once you throw your life away
Thereís nothing left to say
Although you may be sorry
You canít bring back yesterday

A parents desperation
Two different mothers cry
Asking the same question
But never knowing why

Entombed within the courtroom
The decisions handed down
Silently they stare at you
Feel your heart begin to pound

The verdict read is guilty
For murder is a crime
Now youíll spend eternity
Serving out your time

The sad part of this story
This goes on most everyday
And for every life thatís stolen
There is a price to pay

So think about your anger
It can burn inside your mind
Because time moves on and once itís gone
It leaves you far behind

Author's Notes:
I know a few of you have read this one before but,
in these times of violence
I decided to repost it-
May the world find the peace of Shangri~La
Best Wishes~

James - this work is so true, Oh that we could put aside bitter difference (that mean nothing in the long run) and foolish pride and think before we act. This world is a crazy place to live. Excellent work.

The words are so well written that I hope all who feel the urge to kill will take your words to heart. There is nothing sadder than losing someone you love through violence or the prison walls... It is my opinion, your poem should be published in every police station and in every newspaper. Good job and congratulation on your blue ribbon.

If I was judging, your work would be awarded every week.
But since I'm not, it's a pleasure to see that this award helps get the word out to just how fine of a writer you are.

How true my friend, angers blinds not measuring the enormity of the consequences, then is to late, a dead body is not revenge, just emptiness and despair. Great writing ! Pili
