The Glowing Key
The winged creature from the world above
Bought me a glowing key with flowing love.
"Child of Earth why do you fear
In this world of tangling mirages & despair.”--
Said the feathered one from beyond the spheres ...

“i am simple & also clumsy” is what i said
"i misspell many virtuous things."
"i do not so deserve the keeping of this thing
that you do bring to me in your otherworldly hands.."
“You are trusted little one to keep the slumbering key.”--
Said the feathered one from beyond the spheres …

The key seemed to rest in my unworthy palm
Searching with unwavering light the smooth cobblestones
With delight that i had masoned in my spite.
“Keep it safe and in you it will joyously dwell --"
Said the feathered one from beyond the spheres …

As the glowing leaves of autumn
began the elegies of their fall,
& hills swayed in their craggy anger at the winds.
"If you keep it it will quicken-- the gentle pathways beneath your skin—"
Said the feathered one from above the spheres …

i held the key and vowed i would protect it
As the fields arose from their dreams,
& began their warfare against unnamed mortal towers
with strange armies monasteries of flowers.
“Sparrows are counting writing their condolences
to this world in fluid letters on the parchment of the sky.”--
Said the feathered one from beyond the spheres …

The key is gleaming it echoes beyond me
Illuminating farther than my imperfect eyes could see.
As the heavens & earth truth sweep like rain.
“Note this latter time and mark it
The key shall surly find the door that must be unlocked & open it…"
Said the feathered one from beyond the spheres…
