Spelling Of Tomorrow

i hold a glowing lantern
in my hands
stubbs darkness toes
with beams of flickering lumens
recedes the breathing night.
as mysteries are revealed
in pools of insight...

Where does darkness
hid as it recedes
like a unnamed beast.
its claws ebbing
in the edge of vision--
as the ancient stones
on the forgotten paths--
snatch at my unknowing Feet
as i pass.
waiting Sinister with curious plans
plummet foreboding shadows
ever flee from my tread. . . .

Where have the stars gone to hide
in deep depths of endless sightless sky
beyond my yearnings beyond my keen
beyond the gloom itself
Why cannot i follow
into the spelling of tomorrow?
why do your unseen finger
leaves a strange tracings in my dreams?

Just like the world has its silence
i have question marks for words.
My intuition like a well made clock
sputters words,
beyond my tongue.
What quickens the illumination
of my simple heart
as the words like fire flies echo
i shall not know
or glean how far they reverberated
or plumb beyond me
or gain knowledge of their journeys out
beyond my understanding
insight flows into the depths of blankness--
flicker out my narrow space of heart--
Why do my fingers seem so unclear
as i lift this lantern as i go further
Even through shadows flee like
small creatures always mindful--
that their dark hours will come,
because even a flame must slumber
as i leave the twisting ways of foreboding
into unnamed mountains
as moths cover all the orbits
of my passage
like lost souls
follow the sputtering protection
of the searching lantern
in my hand simply gleams
