My
Distant Friend
Oft
did I think that I was in my home --
A
caring man who inside damaged be.
Yet
by chance a soul came much like my own
Made
me friend and with wisdom let me see.
I
have accomplished much with improved sight;
My
self-esteem, self-worth and yes, my mind
Have
been dragged out into the open light
Because
of one once unknown, now so kind.
Hard
it is for me to say just how much
I
admire this man who would take nothing;
Yet
the best of friends are we now as such,
He
who takes nothing and gives everything
And
the damaged fool who made better than
Before
thanks to this kindest, gentle man.
