THE SECRETS OF THE WELL
THE SECRETS OF THE WELL

I imagined that I saw her face today,
Shimmering, she rose up to me, then fell...
As ripples in the water spread away,
I stare into the secrets of the well...

This illusion captured mind, released emotion,
Though reality held tight to cold regret...
The water seemed as waves upon the ocean,
My eyes filled with visions, still beset...

I thought this just a dream, though wide awake,
Then of myself insane, no way to tell...
Confronted with the face of my mistake,
I once again gazed in the darkened well...

My life had held the sorrow much too long,
And soul, has witnessed spirit torn in two...
I taste the bitter drink of loss, and wrong,
That pours from overflowing past, in view...

I walk away, then turn to sound behind me,
With no one there, it chills me to the bone...
I can hear her calling out, but I can't find me.,
In memories I run, to all alone...

Escape this place of optical illusion,
If I can, to unsure relaxation...
Rid myself of nightmares cruel delusion,
Drown myself in sad intoxication...

Remembering the things the well has shown me,
Trying to forget, with no way how...
Attempts, not to relive what life has thrown me,
All of which is failed, I see this now...

And so, I seek the secrets of the well, once more,
And find my past, that causes me this pain...
I look, and all is as it was in days before,
All I can do, is hang my head again...

Hide myself from secrets, I hold deep within,
Close my future, lost in long ago...
Erase the lies I told , and I will tell again,
Travel back, where I'm compelled to go...

To the place where ripples in the water spread,
Each one became a tale of me, to tell..
Feeling in these lonesome bricks are long since dead,
I'm lost, inside the secrets of the well.........

Such a wonderful title! it aseems we all get lost in the well. Many secrets we hide behind, afraid to share for the pain is too great.. it's funny, I am a good one at that! But as of late I do try to open up more, some understand from my writes, other's, not! But I am not afraid anymore to come forth. for those secrets, though still painfull, I wish to share and let loose.. To hold onto, they only weigh us down, and at one point in  our lives we get so tired of handling it alone..

Fantastic trip into your thoughts here.. \
