When the Music Plays

Over all routine aspects of my day,
Like the first warming rays of the sun,
Suddenly, music comes my way.
The chill of my world is undone.

An upbeat song, not heard in a while,
Affects my thoughts and warms my heart.
Within, a gentle memory floats,
I smile, and go about my day.

Later, unexpected, sweet notes drift by.
In just an instant, I depart leave the gray,
For the land of lights the song describes,
A special moment we knew.

To me it means a singular thing.
From wherever you're playing,
I feel your touch through the music,
No matter how you're feeling.

Wherever I go, within the things I do,
Your music reaches me, our memories stay.
Your kind and gentle ways I want so much,
I always find them, when the music plays.

I think I can relate to this... Music is so powerful. It has power both over those who sing and play, and those who listen...

I forget which famous artist sait it, but it's true. He said that a painting is the corpse lefteover from the creative act. The same could be said for writing. But music is living art. It exists only while it is being played. Music touches us and tells truths far below our awareness..Music is the closest we humans will ever come to producing magic...Great description, Rich..Well done...len

music can speak directly to the heart and soul, can't it? bringing memories to life and dreams to light. I've always got music of some sort playing...just because how it speaks directly to the heart.
