A Gift In The Unwrapping

A Gift In The Unwrapping

How very lovely a gift can be
Joys to be found in the unwrapping
Layers revealed, revered, more clear
Love shared is this gift for me

Everyday a new vision to behold
If one looks close, listens intently
To quiet intensity shared in sighs
Without reservation dare to be bold

Dance under skies that cloud and rain
Take pleasures from a small voice
Appreciate, welcome and rejoice
In the awareness gained from pain

Question, search, stumble and learn
Share, accept, encourage, embrace
See the story behind the face
Find enlightment for which you yearn

Relish the salty tears upon your lips
Take comfort in what you cannot control
Accept that love can render your soul
Laugh with exchanged witty quips

Unwrap your own special gift
Share it, care for it, hold it dear
Myopic visions start to clear
No longer having a soul adrift

J.Casper

Where do the words come from? It can only be your soul. I percieve a depth of spirit with in you that would frighten other mortals to death. What a wonderful thing to be immortal. Your words will live for ever. I think I saw them only the other night written in ther stars
Comment By: FreeBruce A. Peaslee on October 1, 2005 05:47:22 AM Report
Jody - I really enjoyed this, not only for the work but for a thought process that occured while reading it; in a way, this poem expresses some of what I gain from this site. The friendships that are formed and the "gifts" that are shared are wonderful. There is communication here, unlike that which you would receive were we in the same room. ( no body language, no undefined gestures to interpret). We write from our heart and then share it with those of like interest. In a lot of ways we get to see and appreciate the real you. Congratulations on the award. (a bit belatedly)
